Fay Gorwood completed her first – and last – skydive on Thursday (April 25) at the age of 83 – and has now raised around £4,300 in aid of Bob’s Brainwaves, a new care pack which can be distributed out to families and carers of those living with dementia.

Bob’s Brainwaves was set up by Chris Suich in her husband’s honour after nursing him through dementia for nine years, and includes all the necessary forms for carers of people living with dementia need to apply for funding and help, including blue badge parking applications, DVLA forms, attendance allowance, and local groups and organisations that can offer support.

This is a cause close to Fay’s heart as she nursed her husband who lived with dementia at home for more than 13 years, and said it was a great exerience but not one she’ll be doing again!

"It was very exciting until I got about two-thirds of the way up, and then my hearing aids stopped working so when I had to jump out I couldn’t hear!

"The support I’ve had has been tremendous and it’s all for a good cause.”
